NAWOJ Constitutes Credentials Committee for 2026 Triennial Delegates Conference
The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has constituted a nine-member Credentials Committee to oversee the preparations and conduct of the Association’s forthcoming 2026 Triennial National Delegates Conference scheduled to hold in November 2026.
The decision was reached at the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the Association held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State on September 25, 2026.
Addressing the newly constituted Committee, the National Chairperson of NAWOJ, Aishatu Ibrahim, charged members to discharge their responsibilities with fairness, impartiality and a high sense of professionalism.
She stressed the importance of adhering strictly to the Constitution of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, and other relevant regulations guiding the Association, noting that due process and respect for established rules are essential to preserving the integrity, unity and credibility of NAWOJ.
The Committee was formally inaugurated by the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahya
Inaugurating the Committee, the NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan charged members to carry out their assignment with the utmost integrity, patriotism and professionalism, while ensuring that the electoral process is free, fair, credible and transparent, and produces an outcome that is acceptable to all stakeholders.
He commended NAWOJ for its commitment to democratic principles and urged the Committee to be guided by the Constitution of the NUJ in the discharge of its responsibilities.
The nine-member Credentials Committee comprises:
Comrade Rajab Mohammed as Chairman; Comrade Nsibiet John as Member; Comrade Maureen Sheyin as Member, Zone A; Comrade Abisola Ariwodola as Member, Zone B; Comrade Stephanie Ude as Member, Zone C; Comrade Grace Akwe Ogbayi as Member, Zone D; Comrade Rashida Yusuf as Member, Zone E; Comrade Grace Orumieyefa as Member, Zone F; and Comrade Farida Abubakar as Member.
The Committee is saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the necessary processes towards the successful organization and conduct of the 2026 NAWOJ Triennial National Delegates Conference.
The National Secretariat has called on all members and stakeholders of the Association to give the Committee the necessary cooperation and support to enable it discharge its mandate effectively.
