UNIMED Students Redefine Leadership with Historic Women’s Conference

The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, has recorded a significant milestone with the successful hosting of its largest student-organised conference, a two-day Women’s Conference themed *“Woman: Introducing HER” between 23rd and 24th March, 2026.

Organised by the Students’ Union in collaboration with the wider student body, the conference reflects a progressive shift in student leadership towards inclusive, impact-driven initiatives within the institution.

The event was formally declared open by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe, who commended the Students’ Union for its vision and execution. “This conference is a testament to the capacity of our students to conceptualise and deliver initiatives that are not only impactful but also aligned with the university’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and holistic development,” she stated.

A major highlight of the conference was the keynote address delivered by Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo, who emphasised self-awareness, intentional living, and emotional wellbeing, noting that “no one owes you to check up on you more than yourself.”

Other resource persons addressed critical issues relating to mental health, identity, and holistic wellbeing, providing participants with practical and relevant insights.

In his remarks, the Students’ Union President, Kalejaiye Abolaji, described the initiative as “a blueprint for a more inclusive and progressive model of student leadership.”

The conference attracted a diverse audience and has further positioned UNIMED as a hub for innovative, student-driven initiatives.
