Partner Osun Govt To Improve Agriculture, Sustainable Economy – Alimi Tells AFAN

Osun Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi has called on the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN, Osun Chapter, to partner with the Government for improved agriculture and sustainable economy.

 

This is as the mouthpiece of Osun Government asserted that the government of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke is ready to partner with the agricultural professionals, consisting of four hundred and thirty-one thousand registered farmers in the state, in tandem with his agenda of providing food and security for the good people of Osun.

 

Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, who made this known to the AFAN leadership at the courtesy call paid on him in his office, pointed out that the profession comes with challenges,urging the body to research and design ways to secure improved seeds for all categories of crops with a view to boosting their profits.

 

While recalling that Agriculture used to be part of school curriculum, coupled with allocation of land portion to individual student for practical farming purpose, the Commissioner emphasized that such culture must be reactivated, for the benefit of future generations, by catching them young.

 

“The five-point agenda of the current administration in the State encapsulates agriculture and food security , hence it is important to ensure that all hands must be on deck to make agriculture profitable and a win-win situation for all and sundry.”, the Commissioner stated.

 

Also speaking, Alhaji Wahab Bello, the Chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Osun Chapter called on the government to include the agric practitioners in it’s programmes, declaring their readiness to partner the government of Ademola Adeleke.

 

The Chairman, who stated that the agricultural field is vast, commended the government and added that they will use their platform to collaborate with the government to improve the State economy.
