Owa Obokun Of Ijesaland, Oba Aromolaran Joins Ancestors

 

The paramount ruler of Ijesaland, Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, who was born on 13th October 1987, has joined his ancestors.

 

According to sources within the palace and the town, Oba Aromolaran passed on after a brief illness.

 

Though, palace of Owa Obokun has not issued any official statement as regards the passage of the monarch, but sources within the palace confirmed the death.

 

A source disclosed that Baba has passed on, but we are waiting for officials announcement from the palace, and traditional rites are being performed.

 

It was gathered that the monarch had been sick for some time, but the situation degenerated during the week before he was hospitalised at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, Osun State till Wednesday.

 

The late Oba Aromolaran was the first Nigerian Oba to hold a PhD and his first book, Economics for West Africa was published in 1966 in collaboration with his friends, Alabi Ogun and Areoye Oyebola.

 

The monarch who was installed as king on February 20, 1982 reigned for over 40 years.
