Osun Government Flags Off Teaching and Learning Materials, Monitoring Vehicles to Public Schools

Osun State Government on Wednesday flagged off the distribution of teaching and learning materials, as well as monitoring vehicles to pupils and students in public schools across the state, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the delivery of quality education.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bobagunwa Teslim Igbalaye, highlighted the administration’s strides in transforming the education sector.

Governor Adeleke noted that education remains a top priority of his administration, with consistent investment in raising learning standards across schools. He recalled that between 2022 and 2024, the state government:

● Paid counterpart funds to UBEC from 2019 to 2024, clearing arrears neglected by past administrations.

● Constructed and refurbished over 400 classrooms in 139 schools.

● Supplied more than 12,500 sets of furniture for pupils, students, and teachers.

● Improved digital literacy with ICT materials, solar systems, and 1,000 tablets for attendance monitoring.

● Supported school sports, agricultural training, and teacher welfare, including implementation of the minimum wage.

● Extended special care to children with special needs.

The Governor added that the 2024 UBEC/SUBEB Action Plan, already underway, covers the construction of 333 classrooms, boreholes, toilets, perimeter fencing, ICT facilities, monitoring vehicles, motorbikes, and more furniture for schools.

“Today’s flag-off marks the distribution of new instructional materials across our schools, including exercise books, notebooks, chalks, markers, textbooks in core subjects, and over 12,000 sets of furniture. With this, the burden of pupils carrying chairs from home is now history,” Governor Adeleke affirmed.

He further announced that the Alternative School for Girls in Osogbo will commence academic activities on 22nd September 2025, alongside other schools, while the UBEC Model Smart School in Osogbo is equally ready for resumption, with plans to replicate the model across the state.

The Governor commended the Chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Fadipe Ibukun Isola, and his team for their commitment, while also appreciating UBEC for its partnership with Osun State.

“Our determination is to secure the future of our children through quality education. With God’s help and your support, we shall continue to build a system that works for every child in Osun State,” Governor Adeleke assured.
