NUJ 2024: Osun NAWOJ Congratulates Alhassan, Oyetunde on Emergence as Presidential Leaders
Osun chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ has congratulated Comrade Alhassan Yahya on his election as the National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.
This is as the association also congratulated, the newly elected Deputy National President Dr Mrs Abimbola Oyetunde and others on emergence as Presidential leaders of the union.
The disclosure was made by Osun NAWOJ Chairperson, Abisola Ariwodola and Secretary Oluwaranti Ojewumi, who also appreciated all State Councils, Zones and Delegates of 8th Triennial Delegates Conference in Owerri, Imo state, held on November 26-28, 2024.
Osun NAWOJ Chairperson Abisola Ariwodola, urged the newly elected NUJ President Alhassan Yahya to implement his manifesto which has programmes that will greatly benefit members of the Union across the country.
Declaring vote of confidence on him and his team, she added that his campaign mantra: Forward Together, Greater Union is sustainable and called to all Stakeholders to support the new NUJ leadership of President Alhassan in making the Union a force to reckon with.
Osun NAWOJ also commended the former president of the NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo, MFR for his tenure which transisted smoothly into the newly elected leadership of Alhassan Yahya.
Furthermore, the statement gave kudos on good job done, to the A+A Campaign Council led by its DG, Comrade Demola Babalola, and Comrade Kenneth Ofoma as Secretary General and Spokesperson.
Osun NAWOJ also thanked the National Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim K Bura for being steadfast and focused as she led her members in the historic event.
Similarly, Comrade Abisola Ariwodola appreciated all NUJ Council Chairmen for ensuring the availability of delegates and observers to the Triennial Conference.
Other National Officers of the Union include Comrade Victor Ndukwe National Treasurer, Victor Dada Financial Secretary, Ronke Samo was reelected as Vice President of B-Zone and Comrade Alege as Zonal Secretary B-Zone (Southwest) unopposed.
The election which was conducted amidst tight security had Comrade Mike Ikeogwu as the Chairman of the electoral Committee and presided by the Representative of the NLC President, Joe Ajaero.
