Malaria Services: ACOMIN Gets Accolades From Osun Government, Reiterates Commitment To Health Outcomes

Accountability of Civil Society Organisations on Malaria Immunisation and Control ACOMIN has reiterated its commitment to health outcomes in Primary Healthcare Centres in Osun state.

 

This is as the group was applauded by Osun state government for being proactive about health support service delivery in malaria control, immunisation and nutrition.

 

This was revealed at the ACOMIN quarterly monthly coordination meeting held at Omilas Conference hall in the state capital.

 

In his address, the Osun state ACOMIN Chairman, Ambassador Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele who addressed the Community Based Organisations, CBOs implementing the project at the target healthcare centres in the state, stated that addressing challenges, particularly in the context of malaria control, immunization, and nutrition initiatives in Nigeria, including Osun State should be prioritised.

 

He opined that to achieve success stories, challenges must be adequately addressed, then progress on health intervention across local governments can occur, while he pointed at the consistency of reviewing activities and performance, setting new goals, and discussing strategic adjustments, as a strength of the project.

 

The ACOMIN Chairman who also reiterated the objectives of the organisation emphasised on accountability and proactive approach to health initiatives for the benefits of Osun people in communities.

 

In his remarks, the Osun state Ministry of Health, Rollback Malaria Manager, Dr Olufemi Oroge commended the health services by the ACOMIN CBOs in Osun state, adding that the services helps the government to stay focused on giving comprehensive health services to the residents of the state.

 

He added that the findings, best practices and success stories that ACOMIN is recording is laudable, while he stated that the government through the Ministry of Health will do its best to address challenges to ensure that it is resolved in best possible time.

 

He recommended that the challenges at the facilities be shared in real time, as well as the location, with steps taken to investigate as well as the proferred solution to act on it immediately, adding that followup and resources will be deployed with supervision and monitoring.

 

Calling the services of the ACOMIN CBOs as good works, he also described them as partners in progress, doing well in Osun communities.

 

At the QCM, the State Primary Healthcare Development Board SPHCDB representative,  Mr Adebowale said basic healthcare evaluation has been approved by the government in all the Primary Healthcare Centres PHCs in Osun communities, adding that this according to Osun government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke is to enhance development in the qualitative health service delivery to the people.

 

He also added that staff issues, solar availability and others in the focal and other facilities in Osun PHC communities are being addressed, while he reiterated the open door policy of Osun government, as a priority on health issues in providing adequate and quality health services.

 

David Amoto State Programme Officer, SPO also added that the SAT of the ACOMIN and reports of the CBOs reveals challenges at some of the focal and non focal centres, delays in payment of Ad-hoc staff, and lauded the response of government in sorting out the gaps and he gave appreciation.

 

He said shortage of consumables should also be addressed by the State Primary Healthcare Development Board, adding that it’s availability should be prioritised for safety purposes.
