INEC CVR: Osun NAWOJ Urge Women To Partake In Exercise To Enhance Participation

Osun Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ has called on women in the state to go out in large numbers and register their details in the Continuous Voters Registration towards the forthcoming elections in the state.

 

The association in a release by the state Chairperson Comrade Abisola Ariwodola and Secretary Oluwaranti Ojewumi announced that Independent National Electoral Commission INEC is set, and on ground at their various offices in local governments across the state for the registration which commenced today Monday August 18, 2025.

 

According to the Chairperson Comrade Abisola Ariwodola, the 2025 Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) by Independent National Electoral Commission INEC is for individuals to exercise civic duty and be part of Nigeria’s democratic process, adding that having a Voters Card is important and is the first step to be able to vote for candidate of choice.

 

She stated that CVR process starts with online registration on cvr.inecnigeria.org after which each person that has registered online between August 18 to 24, will physically go to the INEC offices to do capturing which completes the registration.

 

Adding that the stipulated time for the CVR is 9:00am – 3:00pm (Monday to Friday), she urged the female gender: youths who are 18-years old first time voter, and women to register, those who have lost or damaged their Voters Card to apply for replacement, those who changed location to apply for transfer, those who need to correct their details, to apply and update their information quickly and easily, so as to ensure that records are accurate.

 

The female journalists association who are in the frontline of women participation and inclusion in politics, emphasised that the first step in the advocacy is having a Voters Card, which can be easily accessed through the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration CVR.

 

“Osun NAWOJ reiterated that voting enables us to perform our civic responsibility, and to get the dividends of democracy, and with our right get good representation in government.”

 

“Yes, the Continuous Voter Registration CVR is for all gender: Males and Females, but our objective on women participation and inclusion in politics is beamed on women, hence clamoring and calling on Osun state women who are yet to possess Voters Card, to seize the opportunity and register, so as to be able to vote in the coming elections in Osun state.”

 

The association used the medium to appreciate Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for the proactive steps in ensuring that they objectively perform their role as election umpire in states across the nation.
