HFDI Sensitises Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) on HIV Testing and Prevention
Hope for Family Development Initiative HFDI sensitised Traditional Birth Attendants TBAs at the monthly meeting held at the Millennium Hall, Etinan LGA Council, HFDI Akwa Ibom Community.
At the monthly meeting of the TBAs, the HFDI team comprising of the Mobilization Officer, accompanied by the Finance Officer carried out an activity with traditional birth attendance.
The objective was to foster collaboration with TBAs and create awareness on the importance of HIV testing among TBAs in Etinan LGA.The participants included 64 Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) from the Etinan chapter.
During the activity, the TBAs were educated about HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment to reduce the risk of mother-to-child transmission.
The Community Mobilization Officer, Daniel Williams, welcomed everyone and introduced the organization, commending the TBAs for their good work in the community.
He encouraged them to develop their skills through government innovative training and programs and to encourage others to join and register for the meetings.
Also, the HFDI Finance Officer, Nsisong Utip, emphasized the importance of HIV testing services to reduce the risk of mother-to-child transmission and encouraged TBAs to make HIV testing compulsory for all their clients.
The activity through the awareness helped in promoting HIV testing and counseling among TBAs and their clients, enhance referrals to health facilities, and to reduce the risk of mother-to-child transmission.
By educating TBAs on HIV prevention and treatment, the activity aims to foster a healthy community and safeguard the lives of both TBAs and their clients.
