Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, approving a total budget size of ₦705.794 billion for the new fiscal year. The budget, earlier presented to the Osun State House of Assembly, now provides the legal framework for government spending in 2026.

The signing ceremony took place at the Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, where Governor Adeleke described the budget as a strategic instrument designed to consolidate and expand governance and service delivery across the state. He said the new appropriation aligns with his administration’s five-point agenda aimed at building a diversified and sustainable economy.

According to the governor, the 2026 budget is not merely a financial document but a comprehensive blueprint for economic growth, sustainability and social equity. He assured the people of Osun State of his administration’s commitment to the full and faithful implementation of the Appropriation Act.

Governor Adeleke used the occasion to highlight the achievements of his government across various sectors, noting that several abandoned projects inherited from previous administrations have been completed, while new developmental projects have also been initiated across the state.

He further disclosed that his administration has paid billions of naira in pension and salary arrears, prioritised workers’ welfare, approved and implemented promotion arrears, and settled several outstanding allowances that were previously neglected.

The governor explained that a significant portion of the 2026 budget is targeted at completing ongoing projects initiated by his administration, in order to ensure continuity, value for money and improved service delivery to the people.

Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude to the people of Osun State, including religious leaders, civil servants, students, market women, artisans and other stakeholders, for their unalloyed support and cooperation since the inception of his administration.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Adewale Egbedun, said the signing of the budget into law reflects the effectiveness and people-oriented commitment of the Adeleke-led administration. He assured that the legislature would continue to support the proper implementation and utilisation of the budget for the overall progress and development of Osun State.
