FG Insists: Part-time HND Graduates Not Eligible For NYSC

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, on Thursday, announced the resolution of the longstanding issue regarding the mobilisation of Higher National Diploma graduates for the National Youth Service Corps.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Education, the decision followed discussions with the Director-General of NYSC.

Alausa confirmed that only full-time HND graduates are eligible for mobilisation and can now proceed with their NYSC mobilisation.

“This development represents a major breakthrough for full-time HND graduates, who were previously excluded from the NYSC programme. It reflects the Federal Government Ministry of Education’s commitment to fairness, equity, and inclusivity in the nation’s educational system. However, graduates of part-time HND programs will not be eligible for mobilisation,” the minister stated.

To facilitate a smooth mobilisation process, the National Board for Technical Education has been directed to expedite the collation of data for eligible full-time HND graduates.

In line with this directive, a circular has been sent to the Rectors of Polytechnics, instructing them to upload the necessary graduate data to the newly created HND admission portal.

Alausa emphasised that only those who completed full-time HND programmes would be mobilised, while part-time HND graduates will remain ineligible.

He added that the newly created portal will serve as an official database for NYSC mobilisation, addressing past challenges related to admission records.

The minister encouraged all eligible full-time HND graduates to take full advantage of this opportunity and proceed with their mobilisation without delay.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for all qualified Nigerian graduates, ensuring their active contributions to national development through the NYSC scheme.
