Popular Ijesa Monarch Join Ancestors, Community Mourn 

The Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Adediran, Atupa Owaji II, has reportedly joined his ancestors after ruling for more than two decades in the ancient community in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

 

Sources within the town states that on Wednesday the revered monarch, who hailed from the Aragadagbagun Ruling House, died after a prolonged illness, although an official announcement from the palace is yet to be released, as at the time of filing this report.

 

The late Oba Adeyemi Adediran who is known as a Christian, lover of community development and peace. In April 2024, he celebrated his 20th anniversary on the throne.

 

Oba Adediran was recognised for fostering unity and bringing development to the community, including supporting local initiatives such as the “Esa Oke City Praise”.

 

As a result of the exit of the king, one of the traditional chiefs, Ogboni of Esa Oke, Chief Paul Olamiju have announced a dusk-to-dawn curfew across the community.

 

Rising from an emergency meeting, the chiefs in a release stated that movement around Esa Oke will be restricted from this evening, May 6, 2026 until evening of Friday May 8, 2026.

 

The release by the institution situated in the community, Osun state College of Technology Esa-Oke signed by Mr S.O. Popoola stated that the main market in the town has been shut for some time, while all social activities have also been suspended.

 

Visitors, travellers, students, and staff of the Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke, have been advised to take note of the development, and stay indoor during the 72 hours curfew.

 

The traditional, burial rites and other Information is expected to be released soon.

Oba Adeyemi Adediran, Atupa Owaji II, Owamiran of Esa-Oke was married with many wives and children. He ruled the ancient town for over 22 years.
