“We Closed Our Accounts” – Customers Allegedly Quit Moniepoint, Return POS Machine Amid Backlash

Some customers have allegedly closed their accounts and returned POS machines linked to Moniepoint following recent comments by its CEO, Tosin Eniolorunda, on Nigeria’s workforce and talent standard.

Customers Express Displeasure:

The development surfaced after a social media user on X (formerly Twitter),@Cyzorosgatus, claimed he and two of his friends had ended their relationship with the fintech company.

“The yeye MoniePoint that just yesterday I and 2 of my friends returned their yeye machine and closed our accounts with them,”he wrote.

The post quickly gained attention online, drawing mixed reactions from users across the platform.

Frustration Over Viral Comments:

The user also expressed anger over what he described as insensitive reactions to ongoing discussions, accusing some individuals of failing to consider how their statements may affect others.

“Some people are just selfish; as far as they have gained theirs, they can talk nonsense, and they don’t care if others will be harmed in the process,”he added.

Backlash Tied to CEO Remarks:

This comes amid growing public debate triggered by earlier comments from Tosin Eniolorunda, who raised concerns about the availability of skilled professionals in Nigeria and the difficulty of filling technical roles that meet global standards.

The comments have continued to spark mixed reactions online, with some supporting concerns about talent gaps, while others have criticized the tone and implications of the statement.
