UNIMED VC Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, Appointed to National Committee for the Advancement of Occupational Therapy, Audiology and Speech Therapy Education

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, has been appointed as a member of the National Committee for the Advancement of Occupational Therapy, Audiology and Speech Therapy Education (NCAOTASE).

 

The committee, constituted to strengthen and advance the development of allied health education in Nigeria, brings together key stakeholders from academia, government agencies, and the health sector. It is chaired by Dr. Victoria Amu and includes representatives from the National Universities Commission (NUC), TETFund, and leading medical institutions across the country.

 

Speaking on the development, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe said” this appointment is a testament to the leading role of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, in medical science and health sciences education”.

 

“As the premier specialized medical science university in Nigeria, we have demonstrated over the years that we have what it takes to strengthen and advance not just the mainstream medical education, but also develop allied health education in Nigeria”, she added.

 

Other members of the committee include Mr. Gabriel Aborele (NUC), Dr. Hadiza Ismail (TETFund), Dr. David Atuwo (SSA), Dr. Isa Nurudeen (MD, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Kano), Dr. Paul Agboola (MD, Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta), Prof. John Emaimo (VC, FUAHSE, Enugu), Prof. Julius Ademokoya (University of Ibadan), Dr. Femi Unufegan (Provost, Michael Imoudu College of Education, Edo State), and Mr. Ayeni Oluwasegun (Occupational Therapist, UNIMED, Ondo), with TETFund serving as the secretariat.

 

Professor Adejuyigbe’s inclusion in the committee is a recognition of her expertise and leadership in medical education and is expected to further strengthen UNIMED’s contribution to the development of specialized healthcare training in Nigeria.

 

The committee is tasked with developing strategies and frameworks to enhance the training, accreditation, and professional standards of Occupational Therapy, Audiology, and Speech Therapy education nationwide.
