CVR: INEC REC Credits Achievement To High Level Sensitization And Awareness In Osun

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, has credited the achievement of Continuous Voter Registration CVR in Osun state to high level sensitisation and awareness campaign.

The Osun REC made this known at the September 9 edition of Democracy and Good Governance, a program of the Justice, Development and Peace Makers Centre (JDPMC), aired on Rave 91.7 FM, Osogbo.

The program centered on the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state, providing electorates with vital information while addressing feedback from the public.

Responding to questions on the factors behind the remarkable success of the CVR exercise in Osun, the Hon. REC reiterated the achievement and highlighted the crucial collaboration of media houses, the door-to-door outreach of the NYSC INEC Ambassadors, and the support of traditional rulers as instrumental to the success story of the Voter Registration.

Dr. Agboke further appealed to parents and guardians to restrain underage children from visiting registration centers, stressing that registering persons below the age of 18 contravenes the Electoral Act and attracts legal penalties.

The program reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and fairness as it continues to strengthen democratic participation in Osun State.
