Osun @ 34: Governor Adeleke Reaffirms Commitment to Unity, Development, and Good Governance

By Sunday Okunade,

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called on all stakeholders to work in unity for the continued growth and progress of the state as Osun marks its 34th anniversary of creation.

In a statewide broadcast to commemorate the occasion, Governor Adeleke described the anniversary as both a day of pride and reflection, noting that the creation of Osun on August 27, 1991, was the outcome of decades of struggle, advocacy, and sacrifice by visionary leaders who believed in self-determination.

He paid glowing tributes to the founding fathers, traditional rulers, and community leaders whose resilience made the dream of statehood a reality.

“Today, we honor those who fought tirelessly for our identity. Their sacrifices remain the bedrock of the Osun we cherish today. Their dream was of a land where fairness, opportunity, and progress would flourish, a dream we are still committed to fulfilling,” the Governor stated.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Adeleke pointed to major strides in infrastructure, including road construction, rural electrification, and provision of potable water across all 332 wards of the state.

He also cited progress in healthcare delivery through medical outreaches, enrollment of citizens in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme, and renovation of over 200 primary healthcare facilities.

On socio-economic development, the Governor noted that his administration has sustained regular payment of workers’ salaries, supported farmers with subsidized inputs, strengthened institutions for accountability, and empowered small-scale businesses.

He further mentioned investments in the education sector, cultural heritage preservation, and youth empowerment as key achievements under his government.

Governor Adeleke stressed that despite the challenges confronting the state, Osun has continued to make remarkable progress, and his administration remains focused on building a strong, inclusive, and prosperous state.

“The Osun of our dreams is one where no citizen is left behind. But this vision can only be achieved when government and citizens work hand in hand, with honesty, dedication, and love for our homeland,” he added.

The Governor used the occasion to reaffirm his dedication to transparency, accountability, and people-centered governance, urging citizens, traditional rulers, civil society groups, and the private sector to join hands with government in deepening development.

He concluded with a call for renewed unity, resilience, and adherence to the Omoluabi ethos in the collective quest for a greater Osun State.
