Blood Pressure Check-Up: HFDI Uniosun IT Student Conducts Community Outreach Program

Public Health Students of Osun State University, UNIOSUN who are on industrial training at Hope for Family Development Initiative HFDI conducted outreach programme on blood pressure check up at Sasa and Oja Oba markets in Osogbo Osun state.

 

The community outreach program which focused on blood pressure awareness and screening was part of the group’s health sensitization efforts aimed at promoting wellness and early detection of hypertension among market traders and visitors.

 

The check up on blood pressure of the people was to promote awareness on vital signs, and promoting early detection of hypertension among the community, most especially the elderly.

 

The team also provided health education on the importance of monitoring blood pressure, possible causes of hypertension, and ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The awareness session which was well-received, by the participants was interactive, as the participants engaged in discussions, and asking relevant health-related questions.

 

Blood pressure checks  which was free were carried out on interested to individuals, who were mainly elderly people at the market, and some who had readings that indicated potential health concerns were referred to the nearest health centers for further medical evaluation and care.

 

This step was taken to ensure that community members receive appropriate follow-up and support in managing their health conditions.

The outreach received a warm welcome from the market community, notably from the Iya Olojas, who was instrumental in supporting the program, who also appreciated the team for caring to conduct community engagement in preventive healthcare.
