INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION: HFDI TAKES CAMPAIGN TO COMMUNITY MARKETS
In celebration of International Women’s Day for year 2025, Hope for family Development Initiative HFDI took its campaign to community markets in Kwara, Osun and Akwa Ibom states.
The HFDI team at Gerin Alimi and Mandate Market in Ilorin south and ASA local government of Kwara state, as well as Igbona market in Osogbo Osun state, and Etinan market in Akwa Ibom sensitized the market women on gender equality, women’s empowerment, and contributions to society.
The commemoration of the IWD program also included a road walk and community sensitization activities aimed at raising awareness on the rights, roles, and importance of women in social and economic development.
This event celebrated the achievements and contributions of women in communities, gave education and sensitization on gender equality and women’s rights and it also to engaged stakeholders in discussions about challenges affecting women and possible solutions.
The HFDI team and participants at the road walk carried banners and placards with messages promoting gender equality, women’s rights, and economic empowerment, and at the markets, the speakers addressed the gathering on topics which include: the importance of education for the girl-child, economic empowerment opportunities for women, women’s role in peacebuilding and leadership, and addressing gender-based violence and discrimination.
Experts, activists, and community leaders encouraged women to participate in entrepreneurship, political leadership, and decision-making processes.
Testimonials from successful women in business and education inspired many in attendance, at the programme aimed at increasing awareness among community members about the importance of women’s inclusion in social and economic development.
The IWD Campaign also emphasised the encouragement for women and girls to pursue education and leadership roles, strengthened community commitment to fighting gender discrimination and violence, and networking opportunities for women to access empowerment programs.
