HFDI Conducts Breastfeeding Awareness Talk To Mothers At PHCs

Hammering on the importance of breastfeeding, and in commemoration of World Breast Feeding week, Hope for Family Development Initiatives, HFDI conducted awareness talk at Primary Healthcare Centres in Osun state.

 

The objective of the awareness which was to educate and inform participants, who are mostly nursing mothers and pregnant women, on the importance of breast feeding, highlighted the nutritional, emotional, and health benefits of breastfeeding for both mothers and infants.

 

HFDI in its role of providing practical support systems for breastfeeding mothers, stated that the nutritional benefits of Breast milk include: provision of essential nutrients and antibodies to infants, promoting healthy growth and immunity, while the emotional benefits of Breastfeeding was described as fostering a strong emotional bond between mother and child through physical closeness.

The women and children friendly development organization positioned that, as health benefits for mothers, breastfeeding helps mothers lose post-pregnancy weight, lowers the risk of certain cancers, and promotes emotional well-being.

 

The HFDI team led by the program officer, Comfort Ade affirmed that the breastfeeding awareness talk successfully achieved its objectives of educating and encouraging support for both intending breastfeeding mothers and breastfeeding mothers, and she appreciated the participants, while also urging them to follow Doctors prescription and avoid self medication in pregnancy and nursing mother period.
