Osun AAC Guber Candidate Vows To Overhaul Faulty Political System
… highlighted impactful development programmes for the state…..
The African Action Congress governorship candidate for Osun State, Olajide Esan, has called for a comprehensive adjustment of Nigeria’s current political structure, describing it as fundamentally faulty.
Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Guest Platform in Osogbo, on Tuesday, Esan who highlighted impactful development programmes for the state, argued that the existing system lacks the proper foundation required to build any tangible democratic dividends for the citizens.
Esan criticised the current political climate for shutting out visionary individuals while favouring those who approach governance primarily as a business venture.
He asserted that the commercialisation of politics has made the system unsustainable, noting that this flaw prompted his decision to enter the governorship race.
According to him, “the state requires a shift towards genuine public service rather than the commercialised politics that has dominated the landscape.
He claimed that Western nations are actively seeking to force Genetically Modified Organisms onto the agricultural sector in Africa.
He argued that Osun State must protect its local farmers and food security by focusing on sustainable, organic agricultural practices that preserve local seed varieties.
Turning his attention to the solid minerals sector, Esan alleged that current political leaders are the primary beneficiaries of illegal mining activities across the state.
He stated that the financial proceeds from these illicit operations are being siphoned into private pockets instead of being utilised for public development.
He assured journalists that tackling this issue would form a major pillar of his governance agenda.
The candidate concluded by stating that curtailing illegal mining is a core component of his party’s manifesto.
He maintained that the natural resources found within the boundaries of the state belong collectively to the public and must be managed transparently.
Esan vowed that, if elected, all proceeds derived from mining operations would be strictly channeled into the state treasury to fund infrastructure, health, and education for the people of Osun State.
