World Malaria Day: HFDI Conducts Community Sensitisation and Testing in Kwara
In commemoration of World Malaria Day, Hope for Family Development Initiative HFDI carried out community sensitization and testing at Asa Local Government Area (budo oke community )and Ilorin south local government (geri alimi )community of Kwara State.
The event aimed to raise awareness on malaria prevention and encourage early testing and treatment, as well as promote general community health.
Community members received health education on malaria prevention, the importance of sleeping under insecticide-treated nets, and maintaining clean environments to reduce mosquito breeding.
Also, HIV awareness and prevention education was also provided to promote holistic health awareness.
HFDI conducted free Malaria Testing for residents who were offered free rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) for malaria. Individuals who tested positive were referred to health center for treatment
HIV Testing: Voluntary counseling and testing for HIV was conducted with proper confidentiality and post-test counseling.
Similarly, Insecticide-treated mosquito nets were distributed free of charge to households, with special focus on vulnerable groups including pregnant women, children above five, and the elderly.
The turnout from the community was impressive, showing strong interest in health education and services. Community leaders and volunteers played a vital role in mobilizing residents and ensuring the success of the event.
