N-THRIP: HFDI Collaborates SFH On Financial Literacy Training For Caregivers And Persons Living With HIV
Hope For Family Development Initiative HFDI has collaborated Society for Family Health SFH on conducting a financial literacy training session for a select group of caregivers and Persons Living with HIV (PLHIV) enrolled on the N-THRIP project in Kwara state.
The training aimed to equip participants with essential financial management skills, is to enable them to make informed financial decisions, plan their expenses wisely, and adopt savings strategies to improve their financial stability.
The sessions also focused on helping participants identify viable business opportunities within their communities, explore sustainable income-generating activities, and enhance their financial independence.
The organisations believed that by strengthening their economic resilience, the training sought to ensure that caregivers and PLHIV could better provide for their health needs and those of the beneficiaries they support.
The participants, from Offa and Oyun local government areas, engaged in interactive discussions and real-life case studies on budgeting, savings, investment options, and managing financial risks.
The participants were also introduced to basic entrepreneurship principles, including how to start and sustain small-scale businesses with minimal capital.
Additionally, the facilitators Mr. Bolaji Umar (SFH) and Ajala Oluwafemi (HFDI) emphasized the importance of record-keeping and financial planning in achieving long-term financial security.
The initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the N-THRIP project, which seeks to improve the well-being of PLHIV and their families by addressing not only their health needs but also the socio-economic challenges that may hinder access to proper healthcare.
The training was well-received, with participants expressing appreciation for the knowledge gained and a renewed commitment to applying these financial management principles in their daily lives.
