International Youth Day: CoPEi, Oba Akinyoye Urge Future Generation To Embrace Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development
Community Drive for Engagement Initiative (CoPEi), and Olufon of Ifon Oba Peter Akinyoye has urged youths, who are the future generation to embrace digital pathways for sustainable development.
The disclosure was made at the 2024 International Youth Day organized by CoPEi in collaboration with Hope for Family Development Initiative (HFDI), held at the palace of the Olufon in Orolu local government area of Osun state.
In his address, in line with the celebration theme, the Olufon of Ifon, HRM Oba Peter Akinyoye, adviced the youth to be hard working and abstain from any form of misconduct.
According to him, “life is sweet and no one should take his or her life for granted, the youth time, is the time to labour, so that the old age wont be stressed with labour and unproductivity.
While applauding the organizers of the program, he advised the youth to work hard, adding that Ifon town is open to programs that will enhance the growth and development of the community and ita residents.
In his remarks, the Executive Director of HFDI, Amb. Dr. Aremu Stephen Akinyele appreciated the royal father for the opportunity to conduct the program in his palace, he expressed happiness as a son of Ifon land, adding that statistically, young people has larger percentage of the whole populace, and investment must be made in them, and he also advised the youth to invest positive things in their life, and to always be of good conduct.
Guest speaker of the day, Mr Ajala femi addressing the youth on Empowering Young Voices: Shaping a Brighter Future, maintained that one of the ways by which the voice of the youth can be heard is when they are engaged and empowered to make positive impact in the society.
He asserted that digital empowerment is now a trend, that is economically beneficial, and he urged the youth to leverage on the information technology opportunity.
Highlight of the commemoration of2024 International Youth Day was the performance of songs, dances, oriki, and ewi by students of Ansaru-Islam Grammar School, Orolu High School, and United Secondary School.
The event featured games like ludo and ayo olopon, with prizes awarded to winners.
