Ekiti Sex Workers Endorse Oyebanji For Second Term, Cites Improved Patronage Under His Administration

Commercial Sex Workers in Ekiti State under the leadership of the Chief Executive Officer of Legacy Bar and Plaza located in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, Mr Abiola Mustapha has endorsed Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for a second term in office.

Affirming the position of the commercial Sex Workers in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, when some journalists visited their brothel, Mustapha explained that their decision became necessary to enable the sex workers participate in the forthcoming governorship election holding in June 20th, 2026.

According to Mustapha, the motive prompted him to take the sex workers to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) so as to get them registered for the Voters Card in order to exercise their civic right during June 20th elections.

He hinted that it is their civic right to endorse whoever they want in the position of authority especially during elections.

“They have seen what the Governor is doing in Ekiti in terms of security, infrastructures, health, economy and even the education sector. We do not force anyone to do the enforcement, they did it willingly”, Mustapha said.

It was reported earlier that a non-socio political group named “Commercial Sex Workers” in the Ekiti State’s informal economy have backed the Governor for second-term ambition over increased patronage of customers experienced during his tenure”.

During journalists visit to the brothel in Ado Ekiti, campaign posters bearing the images of Governor Oyebanji, were prominently displayed at their premises.

Commenting on the development, commercial sex workers simply identified as Victoria, Lovet and Gina threw their weight behind the governor’s re-election bid due to his giant strides in economic activities and the creation of a more enabling environment for small-scale businesses under his administration.

According to them, the relative peace in the state, improved security and steady inflow of visitors have also positively affected their means of livelihood.

“We like the governor because Ekiti is calm and people move freely. When there is peace, business moves”. One of them said

The posters carried inscriptions indicating support for the governor’s second-term bid by private business interests operating in the area.

It would be recalled that different bodies including artisans, food vendors, traders union, farmers association, fruit sellers, palm wine sellers and drivers riders have publicly declared support for Oyebanji’s continuity come 2026 gubernatorial election.

Some the group leaders attributed their support to the stable business climate, improved infrastructure and government policies they believe have encouraged the growth of micro and small-scale enterprises, hence led to their endorsement.
