It was a black Saturday in Ilesa, Osun State, as a forest guard officer allegedly discharged his firearm accidentally during a burial ceremony at Oke Iro, leaving one dead and four others reportedly injured.

According to reports, the victims were quickly taken to Wesley Hospital.

An eyewitness account reveals that approximately six hunters were invited from Plateau State to attend the burial ceremony by one of the deceased’s children.

According to the report, tragedy struck when the armed men were rendering a gun salute to the deceased, but one of the barrels misfired, killing an infant instantly and leaving four others injured.

The invitees promptly sought safety immediately after the incident, while the injured were rushed to Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, for medical treatment.

The ill-fated infant has been buried beside the late woman whose funeral turned bloody, and the hunters and the man who invited them have been arrested by the police.
