Boat Mishaps: Oyebamiji Reads Riot Act

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, has frowned at the incessant boat mishaps on waterways in the country, warning that safety issues must be prioritized in order to encourage travellers to patronize water transport.

The NIWA boss stated this at the just concluded 3-Day Special Retreat organized for the members of staff of the agency, held in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Oyebamiji, who expressed displeasure over the news of recent fatal boat accident along the eastern corridor of the waterways, cautioned members of staff of NIWA to avoid any act capable of stunting the development of the agency just as he warned that levity to safety of the passengers and boat users would incur the wrath of the Authority.
