APC National Secretary Calls For Collaborative Relationship Between Government And Political Party
….Proposes Renewed Hope Half Hour Radio Program…
All Progressives Congress National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru has extended his appreciation to the National Publicity Secretary and the media team of the President for facilitating the synergy evident at the “Communicating Renewed Hope: A Capacity Building Seminar for APC Zonal and State Publicity Secretaries in Nigeria.” This program exemplifies the collaborative relationship between the government and the political party.
Dr. Surajudeen speaking at the programme encouraged all government officials to emulate the exemplary approach adopted by the Publicity arm of the government to foster synergy between the party and the government, thereby contributing to the establishment of a robust governance framework for Nigeria.
Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of unifying the communication efforts of the party through the office of the National Publicity Secretary, alongside zonal and state Publicity Secretaries. These representatives need to acknowledge the government’s achievements and devise effective communication strategies. Saying that, “If one does not promote their achievements, they are likely to be overlooked.”
According to him, “before the 2023 elections, there was a notable weaponization of misinformation as a political tool in Nigeria. Certain individuals attempted to misrepresent the nation by referencing images from conflict-stricken countries to propagate falsehoods.”
Senator Ajibola Basiru charged the participants of the ‘Communicating Renewed Hope’ seminar to focus on equipping the party’s communication leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively convey the APC’s vision and policies to the Nigerian people.
Senator Ajibola Basiru in his address delves into issues facing Nigeria today and highlighted the APC’s efforts to address them. He also underscores the vital role of communication in building support for the party’s policies and initiatives.
“There are instances where individuals who previously governed sub-national entities without significant accomplishments have criticized other nations’ successes while neglecting pressing issues at home, such as rampant flooding and insufficient educational infrastructure during their tenure.”
“This gathering is pivotal for addressing those who have exploited ethnic divisions. The politicization of ethnicity prior to the 2023 elections remains a pressing concern, as does the utilization of religious sentiments as a political strategy. Individuals with questionable motives now attempt to leverage religious identity for political gain.”
“These challenges necessitate comprehensive strategies to counteract the weaponization of deceit, ethnic division, and religious intolerance in our country. Clear and concise information is essential.”
Dr Basiru further proposed establishment of weekly radio programs across all states, perhaps titled “Renewed Hope Half Hour,” to highlight the administration’s initiatives at both the national and sub-national levels.
“It’s crucial to recognize that Nigeria operates under a federal system, implying that the accomplishments of our administration should encompass not only those of the federal government but also those of state and local governments.”
“As the largest political party in Nigeria, we currently have 23 governors, among whom are viable candidates for further leadership roles.”
The National Secretary observed that it is important to acknowledge the contributions of all governors, regardless of their political viability, to showcase their achievements and broaden the scope of our collective projection.
