SGBV: Osun Women Ministry Sensitises Youth Corpers on Prevention Strategies

Osun State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Social Welfare has sensitised youth Corpers serving in the state on prevention strategies in tackling sexual and gender based violence.

 

This is as the Osun government based agency urged the youth corpers serving in Osun state to promote a culture of respect and zero tolerance for violence.

The program was approved by the Commissioner of the ministry, Hon Mrs Ayobola Fadeyi-Awolowo, supervised by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Abimbola Babatunde held at NYSC camp Ede.

 

The team, led by the Director Gender, Ms Lola Adewale at the sensitization on Sexual and Gender Based Violence, explained that program aimed to educate corps members on the forms, consequences and prevention strategies of SGBV.

 

The Director in an interactive discuss with the Corpers talked on key topics covering identification of Sexual and Gender Based Violence, reporting mechanisms and support services.

 

The session also fostered a deeper understanding of SGBV and the youth corpers were encouraged to promote a culture of respect and zero tolerance for violence in their communities.

 

Highlight of the SGBV sensitisation campaign was the youth corpers vowing their commitment to be advocates for the eradication of sexual and gender – based violence.

 

The sensitisation campaign was well attended by the participants and the staff of the gender department of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Social Welfare.
