IWD ACCELERATE ACTION: NAWOJ TAKES SENSITISATION TO OSUN SCHOOLS
On the International Women’s Day celebration theme, ‘Accelerate Action’, Osun Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ took its sensitisation campaign on Equal rights, Equal opportunities and Equal future to schools in the state.
At the One-day school Sensitisation programme, which held at Baptist Girls’ High School, NAWOJ charged the students to complement the ‘Accelerate Action’ advocacy being made to stakeholders, by ensuring that they utilize their access to education, human rights, provisions by their parents or caregivers, as well as the governments provisions and infrastructure development.
At the all girls school, the state Chairperson, Comrade Abisola Ariwodola enjoined the school girls to have confidence in themselves, toe the right part, and break biases and stereotypes by being successful in their endeavours.
She also encouraged them to be open to empowerment training, and to be keen to learn and get educated in relevant skills which will be needed in the future.
She urged them not to allow anyone molest them, but to speak out and report any form of harassment, adding that they have right to life and protection, from gender based violence or vices.
Ariwodola who applauded the future generation female gender, introduced Violence Against Persons Prohibition, VAPP Law to them, saying the government and stakeholders have prioritised their protection, hence the importance of knowing their rights and speaking out, when challenged.
The Osun state Chairperson who had her executives and members of the association at the International Women’s Day school sensitisation programme, appreciated the leadership of the school and the teachers for good job done in teaching the students.
In response, the school Vice Principal, described the NAWOJ sensitisation programme as a laudable and impactful one, and she asked for continuation, as guidance and for the benefits of the students.
The state Secretary, Oluwaranti Ojewumi in her vote of thanks, commended the school management for the platform to address the female school students who are part of the future.
She added that the NAWOJ train on Accelerate Action sensitisation campaign will move round Osun state schools.
