SEFIU ADEBOWALE ADEWUMI BECOMES OSCOTECH DEPUTY RECTOR

The former Dean Students Affairs, Mr Sefiu Adebowale Adewumi has emerged as the Deputy Rector of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke OSCOTECH.
His emergence which witnessed a significant event in history of the institution was from an election which took place at the Rector’s conference room in the citadel of learning on Friday.
The election which marked a pivotal moment for the institution, had contestant such as Mrs. Cecilia Kehinde Ijitona who through unity and selflessness, with the priority of the college’s harmony and peace, gave up her contest to allow Mr. S.A. Adewumi to take over the position.
The election process which was conducted smoothly, had the eligible staff of the institution casting their votes peacefully, an evidence of the strong community spirit at OSCOTECH, the most peaceful election in the history of the college.
In his address, the Rector Osun State College of Technology OSCOTECH Esaoke, Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke, commended the contestants, particularly Mrs. Ijitona for her unwavering dedication and love for the college. He praised her true representation of the values that OSCOTECH stands for, highlighting that her selfless attributes is engraved in the annals of the college’s history.
Dr SAO Adegoke congratulated the newly elected Deputy Rector of the college, Mr SA Adewumi, and urged him to continue to be a worthy ambassador of the institution, adding that his contribution and team work with the management, staff and Alumni body of OSCOTECH has endeared him to many.
In his acceptance speech, the new OSCOTECH Deputy Rector, Mr. Sefiu Adebowale Adewumi expressed gratitude to Mrs. Ijitona for her sportsmanship and exemplary leadership and selfless contributions, adding his pledge to uphold her legacy by promoting and protecting the interests of the staff and the institution as a whole in his tenure.
Mr S.A Adewumi, the newly elected Deputy Rector, reiterated his commitment to advancing OSCOTECH mission and vision, and fostering a collaborative environment which is highly anticipated for development.
ADEWUMI Sefiu Adebowale the Deputy Rector, Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke was born into the family Alhaji (Chief) and Alhaja Buhari Adewumi of Ishola’s Compound, Ede in Ede North Local Government, Osun State.
He had his elementary education in Young Tajudeen primary school, Ojoro, Ede from where he proceeded to Lagos State Government College Ojo, Lagos between 1979 and 1983 for his Secondary Education. Thereafter, he gained admission to study National Diploma in Statistics at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State. He later went further to obtain direct entry into the prestigious University of Ilorin, Kwara State where he bagged B.Sc(Hons) in Statistics.
Due to his passion in acquiring more knowledge, he enrolled for PGD in Computer Science and later Master of Science in Technology Management both in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State.
Mr Adewumi S. A started his academic career as an Assistant Lecturer in Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke, where he rose to his present position as Chief Lecturer.
He has held various posts in different capacities in the College which includes several years as Head of Department in Mathematics and Statistics, also as Director of Preliminary programme of the institution, Director of Entrepreneurship and Vocational Skills Acquisition centre and Dean Students Affairs and Alumni, as well as Chairman Committee of Deans.
S.A Adewumi, a Statistician Graduate and Masters holder in Science and Technology Management, who is happily married with Children, enjoys reading, sports and community development activities.
