Food Security: HFDI Trains Caregivers On Seedlings Preservation, Processing

Hope for Family Development Initiatives HFDI in Akwa Ibom state has trained caregivers who received improved seedlings of Protein maize corn and cassava seedlings from Center for Clinical Care and Clinical Research of Nigeria, CCCRN.

 

The objective of the training was to enlighten and assist caregivers on the preservation and processing methods of these two crops.

 

In the interactive lecture, Mr Felix Ikyereve of CCCRN in partnership with State ministry of Agriculture successfully trained 50 caregivers on different methods of preservation and processing.

 

The facilitators highlighted that corn and cassava can be processed to other end products like flour, cake, chips, pudding etc, while ideas about value chain management were also discussed.

 

Demonstration was also made on how caregivers could use corn flour to produce banana fritters.

 

The caregivers who appreciated the training and support of HFDI and CCCRN, shared experiences and learnings, and used the avenue to connect to themselves and learn more from each other.
