Osun State Government, AMEN Foundation Flags-off Free Medical Surgery

Osun State Government, in collaboration with Amen Health Care and Empowerment Foundation, has flagged off free surgery for the residents of Ayedade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in the State.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary HealthCare, Dr. Michael Oyerinde, represented the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke at event flag-off ceremony which took place at the State Specialist Hospital, Ikire.
At the program tagged, “Ending neglected tropical diseases”, Doctor Oyerinde, who commended the free surgery programme organized by Amen Foundation, said one of the five cardinal objectives of Governor Ademola Adeleke is to ensure quality health care delivery for people at the grassroot.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary Healthcare maintained that the Government cannot do it alone hence, the State Governments readiness to partner with other implementing partners like AMEN in order to provide quality Health Care Delivery for Residents of the State.
Oyerinde led the team to the Palace of Akire of Ikire-land, Oba Akintunde Falabi on a courtesy visit to the Monarch, who described the programme a unique one which would go along way in assisting those suffering from Hydrocele but do not have
the financial capacity to undergo Surgery.
Oba Falabi appreciated the good gesture from the State government and Amen Health Care and Empowerment Foundation for supporting humanity and with this kind gesture, assuring that Osun State will soon be free from Tropical Diseases.
In his remarks the State Coordinator, Amen Healthcare and Empowerment Foundation, Mr Emmanuel Mariere, stated that the hydrocele surgery is part of morbidity management and disability prevention program of the neglected tropical diseases unit of the Osun State Ministry of Health.
He stressed further that cases gathered from the just concluded Eye-care outreaches in five Local Government Areas of the State show that many people are suffering from neglected tropical diseases in the society.
