Adeleke Commissions Lameco Flyover, Begins Statewide Inauguration of Mega Projects

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially commissioned the newly completed Lameco five-span flyover bridge in Osogbo, declaring it open for public use. The commissioning ceremony, held at the Lameco area of the state capital, attracted dignitaries from across the country, including government officials, political stakeholders, and supporters of the Accord Party.
Speaking at the event, Governor Adeleke described the inauguration as the beginning of the commissioning of several landmark projects executed by his administration across Osun State. He said the flyover reflects his government’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that will improve the lives of residents.
The governor expressed confidence in the quality of the project, noting that it demonstrates the competence of indigenous engineers to deliver world-class infrastructure. According to him, the successful completion of the flyover is proof that local professionals can be entrusted with major engineering projects.
Governor Adeleke also appreciated residents of Osun State and motorists for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction period. He urged users of the bridge to comply with traffic and safety regulations while avoiding actions that could compromise the durability and lifespan of the structure.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Bashir Salam, described the flyover as a strategic investment that would serve as a foundation for future development in the state. He noted that the project was conceived primarily to ease traffic congestion along the busy Lameco corridor and improve the movement of people and goods.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, commended Governor Adeleke for prioritising infrastructure development. The traditional ruler expressed gratitude for the completion of the project, stating that the governor’s commitment to the development of the state would attract divine blessings and lasting recognition.
The newly commissioned flyover spans 672 metres and is equipped with solar-powered street lighting, making it suitable for both daytime and nighttime use. Designed to accommodate all categories of vehicles, the bridge is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and enhance road safety within Osogbo.
The Lameco flyover is regarded as one of the major infrastructure projects undertaken by the Adeleke administration. Beyond reducing congestion, the project is expected to stimulate economic activities, improve connectivity, and contribute to the long-term urban development of Osun State.
