AIT COMMITS TO LIVE COVERAGE AND STRATEGIC MEDIA SUPPORT FOR WINSEC SUMMIT & AWARDS 2026

The management of the African Independent Television (AIT) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the successful hosting of the maiden edition of Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC) ‘2026, through extensive media partnership, including live coverage of the epoch making event.

 

The commitment was made when the National Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, who also chairs the WINSEC Central Planning Committee, led the WINSEC Secretariat on a courtesy visit to the management of Daar Communications Plc, owners of AIT, in Abuja.

 

Receiving the delegation, the Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of the AIT, Chief Marcel Anyanyechi, commended NAWOJ for conceiving an initiative that recognizes the courage, sacrifice, dedication and outstanding contributions of women serving in Nigeria’s security architecture.

 

Chief Anyanyechi described the WINSEC Summit and Awards as very timely and commendable initiative capable of inspiring patriotism, excellence and greater commitment among security personnel and other stakeholders contributing to national security.

 

He emphasized the importance of collaboration among the media, security agencies, government and citizens in addressing the nation’s security challenges, noting that national security is a collective responsibility that requires active participation of all stakeholders.

 

Speaking on behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of the African Independent Television AIT, the CEO assured the WINSEC team of the organization’s full support towards the success of the summit.

 

Among key commitments made by AIT are:

• Live coverage of the awards segment of the WINSEC Summit and Awards to ensure wider national visibility and audience engagement.

• Comprehensive news coverage of the summit and awards ceremony through the deployment of AIT news crews.

• Promotional support through the airing of event publicity materials on AIT platforms.

• Scroll message announcements ahead of the event to create awareness and mobilize public interest.

• Technical support and professional guidance in refining promotional materials to meet broadcast standards and maximize reach.

 

Chief Anyanyechi further reiterated AIT’s readiness to continue using their platforms to promote national security awareness, public enlightenment and responsible journalism, stressing that initiatives such as WINSEC contribute meaningfully to building a more secure and inclusive society.

 

“We will work with you, partner with you and collaborate with you to ensure that the ceremony comes out successful. Those who are making sacrifices for the peace and security of our nation deserve to be recognized and honoured,” he stated.

 

Earlier, the National Chairperson of NAWOJ and Chairperson of the WINSEC Committee, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, thanked the management of AIT for its warm reception and unwavering support for the initiative.

 

She described WINSEC as a strategic platform designed to strengthen conversations around security, peacebuilding, gender inclusion, leadership and national development, while providing deserved recognition to women and other individuals making remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s security sector.

 

The Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC) 2026, themed *”Celebrating Courage, Passion, Loyalty, Commitment and Sacrifice of Women in Securing the Nation,”* is scheduled to hold on June 30, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

 

The summit will bring together key stakeholders from the security, media, governance and civil society sectors to discuss issues of national security, gender inclusion and leadership, while honouring outstanding women and other champions contributing to the security and development of Nigeria.
