2026 Will Be Year Of Victory, Prosperity For Osun – Gov Adeleke
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described the year 2026 as a defining period of victory, prosperity and democratic consolidation for the state, as preparations intensify for the governorship election scheduled for August 8.
The governor made the declaration in his New Year message to the people of Osun State on Thursday, congratulating residents for witnessing the beginning of another year in peace and good health.
Adeleke expressed gratitude to God for the successes recorded by his administration in 2025, despite what he described as challenging circumstances arising from externally induced constraints.
He, however, voiced strong optimism that the New Year would bring relief, renewed progress and greater dividends of democracy to the people.
According to the governor, 2026 would mark a period of liberation from obstacles that have hindered the smooth delivery of good governance in the state.
2026 will be a year of victory and prosperity for Osun State. It is a defining moment in our democratic journey, as we prepare for another governorship election,” Adeleke stated.
He urged residents to remain prayerful and vigilant, stressing the need for a peaceful, credible and hitch-free electoral process. Adeleke warned against attempts to turn elections into violent confrontations, insisting that voting remains a fundamental constitutional right of citizens.
“Election is not war; it is the exercise of sovereignty by the people. Any attempt to deny citizens their right to vote amounts to an attack on democracy,” he said.
The governor also cautioned against political actors seeking power through hardship and intimidation, noting that such efforts would be rejected by the electorate.
“There can be no shortcut to power in a true democracy. Leadership can only be attained through the votes and voices of the people,” Adeleke added.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to continued service delivery, the governor called on residents to defend their constitutional rights and ensure their votes count in the forthcoming election.
He expressed confidence of victory in the August 2026 governorship poll, attributing his optimism to the support of the people and what he described as the achievements of his administration over the last three years.
“Our strength lies in God and the people we have served. We are determined to secure another victory at the polls,” Adeleke said.
