Osun Govt Revives Ora-Igbomina Water Scheme After 13 Years

Towards delivering the dividends of democracy through provision of infrastructure, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has approved the commencement of the reconstruction of the long-abandoned Ora-Igbomina Water Scheme to restore regular water supply to residents.

 

The Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Sunday Oroniyi, disclosed this during an inspection of the ongoing project.

 

He noted that the scheme, which functioned during Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s tenure 13 years ago, before it was abandoned, is being revived as part of Adeleke’s five-point agenda to improve infrastructure and essential services.

 

Hon. Oroniyi who commended the contractor for maintaining high professional standards, assured residents that the project would significantly benefit Ifedayo and Ila Local Government areas upon completion.

 

The Special Adviser to the Governor on STOWASSA/WRC, Princess Oyeboade Oyewale Afolabi, also eulogised the government for approving the project, emphasized the importance of addressing water shortages and improving public welfare.

 

The contractor, Engr. Olamilekan Omojowo, CEO of Novena Engineering Services Nigeria Limited, assured that work was progressing steadily and would be completed to the highest standard.

 

Part of the team at the ongoing inspection of the Ora-Igbomina Water Scheme include, the Chairman of the Water Corporation, Hon. Sam Oyedotun, alongside with the management team of STOWASSA.
