OSUN 2026: INEC PUBLISHES NAMES OF GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATES WITH RUNNING MATES, EXCEPT FOR PDP AND LP
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Osun State hereby notifies political parties and the general public that following the conclusion of political party primaries and the close of the period for the upload of names and particulars of candidates and their running mates for the Osun State Governorship Election, fourteen (14) political parties have successfully complied with the requirements of the Commission within the stipulated timeframe.
The political parties that validly uploaded the names and particulars of their candidates and their running mates as released by the Headquarters of the Commission, Abuja are:
1. Accord – A
2. Action Alliance – AA
3. African Action Congress – AAC
4. African Democratic Congress – ADC
5. Action Democratic Party – ADP
6. All Progressives Grand Alliance – APGA
7. All Progressives Congress – APC
8. Allied Peoples Movement – APM
9? Action Peoples Party – APP
10. Boot Party – BP
11. New Nigeria Peoples Party – NNPP
12. People’s Redemption Party – PRP
13. Young Progressive Party – YPP,
14. Zenith Labour Party – ZLP.
According to the release by the INEC Public Affairs Officer Musa Olurode signed for Hon. Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr Mutiu Agboke, it stated that in accordance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and as provided in item 4 of the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the Osun State Governorship Election, the Commission has published the personal particulars of candidates and that of their running mates (Form EC9).
Copies of each candidate’s Form EC9, together with all accompanying academic credentials and other documents submitted, will be displayed at the INEC State Office and in all the thirty (30) Local Government Area Offices and the Area Office of the Commission in Osun State on Monday, 16th February, 2026.
Political parties, candidates, and members of the public are hereby advised to inspect the published documents as provided by law.
The Commission further clarifies that only the fourteen (14) political parties listed above, having met the constitutional and regulatory requirements within the prescribed period, will participate in the forthcoming Osun State Governorship Election.
Meanwhile, the Commission in Osun State, under the leadership of the Hon. Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, reassures the electorate and all stakeholders of its firm commitment to transparency, professionalism, and the conduct of credible elections in accordance with the law and best democratic practices.
INEC urges political parties and the public to continue to support the Commission in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
