Olowu-Kuta Calls For Unity Among Yoruba Monarchs, Emphasise Unity Between Alaafin and Ooni
The Olowu of Owu-Kuta kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama CON has called for unity among yòrùbá monarchs, describing it as a priority for co-existence and development.
Oba Oyelude Makama made this disclosure while receiving the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem Owoade I, in his Kuta palace on Tuesday.
The significant royal event was witnessed by enthusiastic and cheerful crowd of indigenes and dignitaries from within and outside Kuta kingdom, where Oba Oyelude who in a majestic style with a formidable team comprising his Olori, a host of monarchs and high chiefs of Owu-Kuta received the newly installed Alaafin.
In his address, Oba Adekunle Oyelude thanked Alaafin for honouring the ancient town of Kuta with his presence, and he charged Alaafin Owoade to put unity of Yorubaland in the forefront of his agenda especially amongst the Yoruba Monarchs.
Olowu-kuta maintained that the reality of the unity will depend on the relationship between the Alaafin of Oyo and Ooni of Ife, charging Alaafin Owoade to sustain the peace and unity maintained by his forefathers and extend the royal visit to Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
According to Olowu-Kuta, “”Kabiyesi, your visit is historic and myself and the people of Kuta will remain grateful. We are happy to receive you.
“I’m using this medium to implore you that unity among the Yoruba Oba is paramount. The relationship between you and the Oonirisa is the key to the unity of Yorubaland.
“During the period of Alaafin Adeyemi, he made a lot of significance and corrections amongst the Yoruba Obas.
Oba Oyelude also appreciated Alaafin Owoade for promoting the Yoruba culture at all times, noting that our culture is our identity.
“I am also happy to see the promotion of our traditions in your efforts. Tradition must not go into extinction because that’s our foundation,” Oba Oyelude Makama said.
The revered Alaafin Owoade who arrived in majestic style with his Olori, a host of monarchs and high chiefs from Oyo, members of his royal cabinet, traditional aides among others expressed deep appreciation to Olowu of Kuta, his Olori, the royal council, Kuta council and the good people of Owu-kuta for the elaborate and heartfelt reception.
He noted that the unity message among monarchs as preached by Oba Oyelude gladdens his heart.
Alaafin Owoade prayed for the people of Kuta, noting that the royal visit was aimed to foster unity as the visit to other palaces continues.
