Financial Empowerment: HFDI Teaches Caregivers Soap Making In Akwa Ibom and Kwara States

By Abisola Ariwodola,

Under the GC7/N-THRIP Project in Akwa Ibom and Kwara state, Hope for Family Development Initiatives HFDI has trained caregivers in soap making and marketing strategies for economic survival.

The training held at the Caregivers forum at Etinan in Akwa Ibom and held at Offa local government area of the States.

The importance of the activities was made known to the caregivers, whom the materials used in making the Liquid Soap was introduced to.

Also the procedure for making the liquid soap was demonstrated by the Community Case Managers, CCMs to the caregivers, who were enlightened on Type of materials, Production of Liquid Soap, Income generation, and advantages of financial literacy among others.

The HFDI Case Manager noted that the procedure involved in making liquid include getting a big bowl, pouring measured amount of water inside the bowl, adding the chemicals one after the other, stirring with turning stick until the chemicals mix well inside the bowl, and then leaving it for a certain period of time for the soap to ferment, and then bottled for sale.

This according to them is a local way of soap making which is beneficial for economic survival in the present condition of Nigeria.

In response, the caregivers were happy in learning the liquid soap making, as most of them have passion for soap making, added that they see the activities as an opportunity in making their dreams of economic empowerment come to reality.

Assuring HFDI that they will put the training to usage, by taking the produced liquid soap for sale in their various  community, they also appreciate the effort of the organization, and prayed for the continued progress.
