ECEWS Speed Project: CDC Visits Hope for Family Development Initiative, Rates Performance

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) visited Hope for Family Development Initiative (HFDI) as part of the SPEED-ECEWS Project.
The purpose of the visit was to review the progress of project activities for FY25 October 2024 till date, and to assess the level of service delivery to the positive households.
At the HFDI Osogbo office of the visitation, key stakeholders including five CDC teams led by Dr. Olufemi Oke, the ECEWS team led by Mrs. Adefiranye Seunfunmi (SPM), HFDI staff, and case managers were at the supervisory visit.
In his welcome address Amb. Dr. Aremu Stephen Akinyele the Executive Director of HFDI, commended all participants and expressed gratitude to the CDC and ECEWS team for their continued partnership and support.
He acknowledged the encouragement received from the organization’s Board of Trustees, appreciated the technical guidance from CDC and partners and shared an overview of HFDI’s vision, mission, achievements to date, and strategic goals for the future. His remarks provided context for the visit and reinforced HFDI’s commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable households.
Masanwoola Mayowa (Osun Program Manager) delivered a detailed presentation highlighting the milestones achieved so far under the ECEWS SPEED Project, stating also the progress recorded in service delivery to positive households in FY25, as well as challenges and lessons learned.
Highlights presentation also include key activities such as ensuring proper linkage of children to treatment and care, consistent tracking of clients on Interruption in Treatment (IIT) to improve retention, provision of nutritional interventions to support household well-being, and the targeted support rendered to children living with HIV (CLHIV). Afterward, the CDC team interacted with HFDI staff and case managers to gain deeper insights into program implementation and to offer constructive technical feedback.
As part of the supervisory process, the visiting team conducted a thorough review of household folders to assess the quality of documentation and service delivery at the community level. This activity showcased the dedication and diligence of case managers, who remain central to household-level interventions.
The review process also provided a platform for immediate feedback and exchange of ideas to further strengthen program performance and accountability.
In it’s remarks, CDC commended the commitment of HFDI to program excellence and accountability, rating the organization’s performance at 85%. This recognition reflects both the impact of the ECEWS SPEED Project and the tireless efforts of staff and case managers.
