Osun State Government has urged motorists who are yet to obtain their number plates to do so immediately to avoid the wrath of the law.

The State Government noted that it is a crime to drive on the road without number plates and other vehicle registration documents.

The Government spoke through the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Transportation, Hon. Salaam Hameed Adewale while featuring on a popular radio programme tagged: “Aabo Loju Popo” monitored on OSBC radio.

Hon. Adewale warned car dealers in Osun State in particular, stressing that they are mostly fond of riding unregistered vehicles for a long period without doing the necessary things under the law.

He noted that the trend is dangerous and negates the State’s effort towards ensuring a secured society, explaining that unregistered vehicles are easily used to perpetrate crimes and other havocs.

The Governor’s Aide then urged motorists to visit the Ministry of Transportation in the State Secretariat for number plates and vehicle papers, announcing that number plates are now available.

In his words, “The State Government seriously frowns at motorists who still ply our roads without number plates and other vehicle registration papers. Government will no longer condone this recklessness from people.

“It is for our own good that Government is asking us to register our vehicle, it is to help reduce the rate of crime and other criminal activities in our environment. It is for easy tracking.

“Number plates are now available in the Ministry of Transportation and we implore our people to come for them and register their vehicles”, Hon. Adewale stated.
