Supreme Court Judgement: Wild Jubilation Erupts In Osogbo

The calm city of Osogbo, Osun State capital was thrown into a frenzy of some sort immediately the Apex Court seating in Abuja affirmed the victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the July 16, 2022 gubernatorial elections.

 

As the clock tick towards 2pm which was slated for the Judgement, the town had been calm and tense sort of, as people were apprehensive as to where the Judgement will swing.

 

By 2pm, the atmosphere within the government secretariat, became more tension soaked as people monitored proceedings through different mediums, radio, television or phones as the case may be.

 

At about 2:45pm or there about, noise of wild jubliation began to filter in from different sections of the secretariat, meaning that Governor Ademola Adeleke has been confirmed as the rightful winner of the gubernatorial elections.

The Apex court had ruled in favour of the candidate of People’s Democratic Party, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and people could no longer hold back their joy in celebration of the Judgement which means their votes were not wasted.

 

The OsunNewsroom crew of the Ministry of Information immediately went out to feel the pulse of the ancient town of Osogbo. From the popular Aregbe junction to Orita Olaiya down to Ajegunle and Igbona market, residents were seen dancing in celebration of the Judgement.

 

Market women in Igbona on sighting the OsunNewsroom crew started chanting “Imole Imole Imole” with different songs of the PDP renting the air.

 

The obviously excited residents could not hide their joy as they took to the streets and major roads drumming and dancing with the PDP flag in their hands.

 

OsunNewsroom crew got to the PDP secretariat along Ikirun road in Osogbo where party members were met on ground singing and dancing in celebration of the apex court judgement.

 

Speaking at the secretariat, the Director of Administration for Osun PDP, Alhaji Mustapha Sikiru who commended the Supreme Court for upholding the voice of the people, said it is a victory well deserved for the party.

 

He said with the Governor now fully stable as the State’s helmsman, the people of the state should be ready for more dividends of democracy as the Governor will continue to put smiles on their faces.

 

It will be recalled that the All Progressives Congress and former Governor Gboyega Oyetola had challenged the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke in the July 16, 2022 gubernatorial elections and the litigation battle lasted about 10 months.
