Oniru, Oluresi Back Basiru’s Re-election Bid
– Canvass Yoruba’s Support For APC Presidential Flagbearer
The Onirun of Oke-Irun, Oba Isaac Adetoyi Adetunlurese Olokose II, the Oluresi of Iresi, Oba Sikiru Adeseun and Oba Samson Oluwafemi Bamidele have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of Senate Spokesperson, Dr. Ajibola Basiru .
Speaking when the lawmaker took his campaign to their palaces on Tuesday, the monarchs in Boluwaduro Local Government of Osun State, applauded the Senator’s giant strides in the last three and half years.
They acknowledged the various empowerment schemes, borehole projects, solar streetlights and commitment to effective representation through advancement of various bills on the red chamber of the National Assembly, for the development of the district.
Oba Adetunlurese, Oba Adeseun and Oba Bamidele urged the people of the local government and the senatorial district to re-elect the Senator, for the entrenchment of effective representation of the electorate of Osun Central.
The royal fathers stressed that: “We have seen what the Senator has done over the years. He is a true son of Osun. He is intelligent, courageous, competent and responsible. We are truly inspired and happy to have him as our representative.
“His signature is everywhere. We are not supporting him because of sentiments but for what he has been able to do. We are convinced that he will do well if he re-elected.
“Yoruba must get it right this time. We must be ready to ensure that we win the battle this time around. We have our true son contesting this time around and we must support him. Basiru is not a niwit. Tinubu is our own. We will support them to succeed.”
While thanking the monarchs for the warm reception, Senator Ajibola Basiru pledged to offer more dividends of democracy embedded in his qualitative representation manifesto.
Basiru who noted that the pertinent roles the traditional institution has been playing since time immemorial, promised to work hard to see to the fulfilment of the yearnings and aspirations of the people that elected him, if given another term.
“All our candidates are noble, resilient, educated and have the capacity to lead. Our party is not a party of rabble rousers or those who needs to be spoon fed. We have the experience, quality and good intentions of leading our people to prosperity. We are not deterred but united to ensure a prosperous Osun and a progressive Nigeria in all sectors.
“We are grateful to you for your support. We have enjoyed your support this far and I am sure that we will continue to enjoy your support and prayers. By the grace of God, we will not let you down.”
The Senator also met party leaders, stalwarts, members and residents of Oke-Irun and Iresi, where he charged them not to relent in taking the gospel of electing APC candidates from the Presidency to the State Parliament, to the people at the grassroots.
He said the party under the leadership and coordination of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola will ensure the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all candidates, in the forthcoming general elections.
On Basiru’s entourage were the candidate of the party for Ila/Ifedayo/Boluwaduro federal constituency, Hon. Adebisi Obawale, candidate for Boripe/Boluwaduro in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Femi Popoola, among others.
