OCGS Ikirun Alumni Association Awards Scholarship to Students
Old Students’ Association under the aegis of the 1986 Class of Orimolade Commercial Grammar School, Ikirun in Osun State has awarded scholarship to six outstanding indigent students of the school.
The Spokesperson of the planning committee, Mrs Bosede Akinyemi who made this known during the presentation of the awards on Saturday at the school premises in Ikirun said, the ’86 set old students of the school was highly committed in rendering unalloyed support in the area of continuous education to the very best and indigent students.
According to the planning committee, “this is the beginning of many good things to come and initially, we planned to give awards to five students but when we heard of the case of the sixth person, we decided to increase it to six while the scholarship scheme is supposed to be only for a year”.
Mrs Akinyemi added further that, ” following consultations with members, the association decided to pay for the students third term school fees as well their Unified Exams”
Similarly, the Chief Executive Officer of Oladele Construction Company Limited, Engr. Isiaka Abimbola Oladele has graciously adopted one of the students at the colourful and well attended awards presentation because of her condition.
While speaking at the event, a teacher and alumnus of the school, Mr Taiye Babalola, commended the 1986 set of one of the oldest schools in the state for their gesture and their active roles at the national body of the association.
Mr Oladipupo Lateef Olawole who presented the awards to the beneficiaries said the decision of the organiser of the awards presentation was highly commended saying it is a round peg in a round hole towards the success and upliftment of the entire students of the school.
The Scholarship package amounts to over N100,000 while students who benefited the scholarship packages include, Yusuff Usman (SS1) Science, Sheu Saodat (SS1) Art, Idowu Dare (SS1) Commercial, Oladele Esther (SS2) Science, Abimbola Aminat (SS2) Art and Ganiyu Basheet (SS2) Commercial.
