CAI4SR Seeks For Implementation of SGBV Laws in Osun

… Holds Sensitization Rally at Osogbo Market…

Community Advancement Initiative for Self Reliance CAI4SR have sought for the implementation of Sexual and Gender Based Violence Laws in Osun.

 

 

This is as the non-governmental organization held sensitization rally at Orisunbare market in Osogbo to campaign against sexual based violence against women and girls in the state.

 

 

At a Press Conference held today at New Sunbare Market parking lot, the Executive Director CAI4SR, Mrs Eni Ayeni opined that the organizations unveiling of the #ImplementationSGBV hashtag have the objective of building the desired support, create awareness of the salient positions of the Osun Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, as well as Administration of Criminal Justice Law, ACJL in providing redress for survivors and victims of SGBV.

 

Adding that the hashtag will also make possible, speedy justice, service delivery and resolution of SGBV cases, Mrs Ayeni asked Osun government at the Executive and Judiciary level to start Implementation of the laws for the benefits of its set beneficiaries.

 

 

She added that the propagation of the implementation laws will also aide key advocacy objectives and strategically engage with identified stakeholders across all platforms in project locations.

 

 

She emphasized that there are Six states in Nigeria involved in the implementation by Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE) USAID Project, saying the six states which includes Bauchi, Benue, Enugu, Kaduna, FCT-Abuja and Osun have passed the law, but lacks adequate and effective implementation.

 

 

In an interview with the Pressmen, Mrs Ayeni stated that the chances of victims and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence will improve with adequate protection from the VAPP and ACJ Laws, alongside other benefits in favor of the victims and survivors, with the speedy justice service delivery.

 

 

She called out to stakeholders and the public on the existence of the VAPP and ACJ Laws provided to curb abuses, and how the people of the state can benefit from it, particularly women and girls.

 

 

Also speaking, the Project Director, Mr Ayeni pointed out that the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, VAPP Law have been domesticated in Osun, adding that it is yet to be implemented, he called on the government to ensure its implementation.

 

 

He further said that the process of the Campaign Against Sexual and Gender Based Violence which can happen to any woman, girls or men and boys is not complete if the VAPP and ACJ Laws are not implemented.

 

 

The CAI4SR Campaign train went through Orisunbare market to sensitize the market women and customers plying the market, fliers and stickers were also shared to impress the campaign.
